In this article, we will look at some of the features in iOS 11 that will enhance your iPhone functionality.

The introduction of Augmented Reality:

Augmented Reality is such a technology that has a huge potential to change the world and it is ready to arrive in our phones with the arrival of iOS 11. Augmented Reality is a feature that lets you place virtual digital objects into the real-world places and allows you to interact with them.

AR, as it’s also popularly known, is not a built in feature of any of the apps that come with iOS 11. In fact, AR is a part of the technology of the OS. This means that developers can use this technology to develop their own apps. So, now you can expect to start seeing a lot of apps in the App Store that may have the ability to overlap digital objects and live data in the real world. Some examples of this feature can include games like Pokemon Go or an app that allows you to hold the camera of your phone to a restaurant’s wine list to know real-time ratings for each wine.

Multi-Room Audio System:

AirPlay is Apple’s technology that allows you to stream audio and video from an iOS device (or Mac) to compatible speakers and other accessories. Since its launch, AirPlay has been a very powerful feature of the iOS. However, with iOS 11, the developers are taking AirPlay a notch up with the introduction of AirPlay 2.

AirPlay 2 will be able to detect all the devices that are compatible with AirPlay your home or office and instead of streaming to a single device it will combine them into a single audio system.

With AirPlay 2, you will be able to play music from any single compatible device or from multiple devices simultaneously. You can consider it as holding a party in which every room has the same music playing or like creating a surround-sound experience in a room dedicated to music.

Multilingual Siri:

Every time Siri gets smarter with every new release of the iOS. And this holds good for iOS 11 as well.

One of the best new features will be the Siri’s ability to switch from one language to another and translate the talk. You can ask Siri in English about how to speak a particular phrase in some other language (Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish are supported first) and Siri will translate the phrase for you.

The voice of Siri will also be improved so that now it will sound more like a person and not like a human-computer hybrid. Interactions with Siri will also feel more natural and easier to understand as the developers have emphasized on words and phrases for better phrasing.

Customizable Control Center:

Control Center helps in quickly accessing some of the most-used features of the iOS. This could include accessing music controls and turning on and off things like Wi-Fi and Airplane Mode and Rotation Lock etc.

Control Center will also get a brand new look with iOS. It will become more powerful. The first change in Control Center will be that it will now support 3D Touch (on devices that offer it). It means that you will be able to pack many more controls into a single icon.

Moreover, you will now be able to customize the controls available in the Control Center. Now, you will be able to remove the controls that you do not use, and the ones that will make your work more efficient, and let the Control Center become a shortcut to all the features that you require.

Do Not Disturb feature while Driving:

A new addition in safety feature in iOS 11 will be Do Not Disturb While Driving feature. This Do Not Disturb feature, which has been a part of the iOS for years, will allow you to set your iPhone to ignore all incoming calls and texts when you need so that you can focus on your work (or sleep!) without any sort of interruption.

This feature can be extended to use while you are driving. With Do Not Disturb While Driving enabled, calls or texts that come in while you are driving, will no longer light up the screen and tempt you to look at it. Although there are emergency override settings available, anything like that which reduces distracted driving and helps drivers to focus on the road will bring tremendous benefits.

App Offloading:

Everyone dislikes running out of storage space especially on devices with iOS because you cannot upgrade their memory. One way to free up space is to delete the old apps, but by doing that you might lose all the settings and data related to that app. However, iOS 11 will solve this problem for you.

The new version of iOS will include a feature named Offload App. This will allow you to delete the app itself while saving the data and settings from that app on your device. With this, you can save the things you want to keep that are associated with the app and then delete that app to free up space. If you want to app back later you can easily re-download the app from the App Store and all your data and settings will be there waiting for you.

There will also be a setting that will automatically offload the apps that you haven’t used recently to intelligently increase your available storage.

Super fast Device Set Up:

Upgrading from one iOS device to another is very easy, but if you have a lot of data to move from your device, then the process might take some time. However, this process will get a lot faster with iOS 11 features.

With iOS 11 you can easily put your old device to Automatic Setup mode and simultaneously use the camera on the new device to capture the image that is being displayed on the old device. When the process completes, many of your personal settings, preferences, and iCloud Keychain passwords will automatically get imported to your new device.

But this method will not transfer all your data. You will still need to transfer the photos, offline music, apps, and other contents separately. However, it will make the setup and transition to new devices much quicker and easier.

Ability to save Passwords for Apps:

The previously launched iCloud Keychain feature allows you to save your website passwords across all devices you have signed in into your iCloud account so that you do not have to remember them. This is a very helpful feature of iOS, but it only works on the internet. You will still need to remember your login in case you need to sign in into an app on a new device.

With iOS 11, iCloud Keychain will now work with apps as well. Now, you will just need to sign in into an app once and save the password. Then that login will be available to you on every other device that is signed in into your iCloud.

App Store Redesign:

The App Store will also get a whole new look in iOS 11 features. The new App Store design will be heavy on big text, large images, and it will be able to separate the games and apps into two separate categories. This will make it easier for the users to find the type of app that you are looking for without any interference.

In addition to a new look, there will be new features as well. These features will include daily tips, tutorials, and other content that will help you to discover useful new apps and get more out of the apps that you are already using.

On device Screen Recording:

Previously, the only way to make a recording of what was happening on your iOS devices’ screen was to hook it up to a Mac and do the recording there. But that will change with iOS 11.

The iOS 11 will have a built-in feature to record the screen of your device. This will be helpful if you want to record and share a game session with a friend. It will be super helpful if you want to develop apps, websites, or other digital contents and are required to share in-progress versions of your work.

You will also be able to add a shortcut for the feature in the new Control Center.

With the addition of such brilliant new feature in iOS 11, it will be sure that you will have a wonderful experience using this new iOS 11.
