New Launched Mobile | HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Review And Rating

The HTC Desire 628 dual sim was launched last year by the Taiwanese company in India for Rs 13,990. Apart from dual –tone design, the highlights of this handset is its 3GB of RAM and ROM of 32GB with dual-4G LTE support. The smart phone was first launched in Vietnam in May 2016 and then it was later introduced in India and other regions.

HTC Desire 628

It lacks fingerprint sensor and USB OTG support, which are common features that you get in all the smart phones at this price or even at a lower price range. While the phone in a mid-range price bracket, it can still be categorized as a budget smart phone. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is great but at the same time the Media Tek PROCESSOR AND 720P display isn’t at par with competition.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Build & Design | Rating: 6.9/10

HTC Desire comes in Cobalt White with blue accents and Sunset Blue with pink accents. The HTC Desire 628 boats of polycarbonate materials uni-body with dual-colour design. The edges are of pink colour and feature volume rocker and power button on the right edge, while the two SIM trays (SIM1 AND SIM2) and a micro SD card slot can be found underneath the rubberized flap on the left. The front HTC Desire 628 features all black design with earpiece grill up-top and front firing speaker below the display along with HTC logo.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Display | Rating: 5.1/10

We found the display material to be quite nice and the touch accuracy was fine too. Unfortunately the screen doesn’t include any Gorilla Glass or AGC Dragontrail protection standard, so it will get scratched a little easier and hence we recommend you to put a screen protector. The HTC Desire 628 dual sim features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) super LCD display with a pixel density of 294ppi. HTC has put in ‘colour temperature’ adjust feature under Display & gestures settings. The colour reproduction for a 720p LCD Display panel was fairly average.

The brightness levels are decent enough for outdoors and the ambient light sensor works well to adjust auto brightness. If we talk about the sunlight legality then the HTC Desire 628 is just about okay. But the viewing angles aren’t great and you’ll see blue-tinge when the display is even slightly titled.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Performance | Rating: 4.7/10

The Desire 628 performs below average when it comes to multitasking. With multiple apps opened in the background, the handset tends to lag a lot and even freezes at time. The HTC Desire 628 dual sim features a 64-bit octa-core Media Tek MT6753 processor with 13 GHz clock speed and Mali-T720 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM. The handset supports microSD expansion up to additional 2TB, but misses out on USB OTG support. We tested out the editing performance of the HTC Desire 628 with Adobe Lightroom and Snapseed to measure respone time. Switching between multiple browsers and also between various tabs in the browser is slow and apps crash at time. The internal storage is 32GB, although you’ll only get about XGB of free space on first boot because of the excessive amout of pre-loaded system apps from HTC Desire.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Primary Camera | Rating: 5.0/10

It is capable of shooting 1080p videos as well. While the daylight shots were a little better but it could not capture detailing and sharpness was low too. The primary camera on HTC Desire 628 is a 13-mega pixel autofocus shooter with LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture, 20mm and 75 degree wide angle lens. The low-light shots had a high level of noise. The autofocus and tap-to-focus is slow. While making video you can also click the volume keys to take picture in between. The camera app from HTC Desire 628 is mostly stock and doesn’t include many features apart from few standard HDR, Macro, manual ISO setting and preset While Balance options. In our test we found the rear camera results to be below average in most conditions.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Secondary Camera | Rating: 5.0/10

All selfie shots were mostly inconsistent. The HTC Desire 628 dual sim features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The can take ‘Auto selfie’ (smile selfie, still selfie), Voice Selfie, Live Makeup selfie with face detection and photo geotagging. There is a beauty slider on top, which in real-time softens your skin with face tracking, although the results look aweful. The results missed out on detailing and sharpness was bad too. In bright daylight, you might get manageable selfie but overall the images looked bad. Usually found the option under cameras setting and it allows users to capture shots by saying Cheese or Capture.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Battery Life | Rating: 5.9/10

HTC Desire 628 claims that the handset supports fast charging, but we found the statement to be false. The HTC Desire 628 dual sim packs a 2200mAh non-removable Lithium-Ion battery. In our video loop test, the battery of HTC Desire 628 dual sim latest for 7 hour 40 minutes. The PCmark test result estimated the time to be 6 hour 23 minutes. The phone took about 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 29% of the battery in switch off mode and the full charging took 2 hours to charge 2200mAh battery, which isn’t fast by any standard.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Software & UI | Rating: 5.5/10

The HTC Desire 682 dual sim runs dated Android 5.1 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7.0 UI on top.  Also, the left to right swipe on home screen reveals HTC Blink Feed like Google Now. The device does get a lot of pre-loaded bloatware from HTC, so as a result you get about 24GB of available storage on first boot, out of the 32GB internal storage. The three on screen navigation buttons – Back, Home and Recent Apps are interchangeable, so you can re-position all three navigation keys in the bottom bar. The phone does not support third – launchers. But if you want to customize it a little more, then HTC Sense also features a lot personalization option like change Font style, Font size, Keyboard color, Dialer color under ‘Personalize’ submenu in settings.

HTC Desire 628 Dual Sim Call Quality | Rating: 7.9/10

The phone features two microphones – one primary mic hidden in the bottom speaker grill and the secondary noise cancellation mic is located at top center of the back. So it won’t be able to do HD calls and if you want to use the Reliance Jio SIM card on it then it’ll only work for data and calls won’t go. The HTC Desire 628 dual sim as the name suggests features dual-SIM with 4G LTE data supports, but unfortunately misses the VoLTC. Overall, The HTC Desire 628 dual sim has no issues with the call quality and manages phone calls loud and clear.
