The report was spotted on Xiaomi official Weibo account, but surprisingly the information seems to have been mistranslated by several news outlets. Refuting the launch report, vincent_khoo, a super moderator from Xiaomi claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be unwrapped on April 19.
The moderator confirmed the launch of MIUI Forum and said that the flagship will be officially announced in Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. The moderator also cited the April 19 launch to be fake news and asked the users to follow the MIUI Forum for official information and latest news.
Essentially, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun confirmed the launch of Xiaomi Mi 6 earlier with the Mi fans in India via live stream. Lee, however, did not reveal the exact date of launch or shared any details about the new handset which lead speculation and rumors buzz heavily in the web corner.
The moderator didn’t reveal anything about the upcoming flagship; however, he did mention the Mi 6 to be a ‘powerful device’ suggesting it be powered by Qualcomm’s next generation chipset Snapdragon 835.
Rumors have tipped the device to run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. Leak reports have also suggested that the bigger variant, Xiaomi Mi 6 will be unveiled alongside the Mi 6 smartphone. But as the launch date turned out to be spurious, we will have to wait until the Chinese conglomerate officially lifts up the curtain next week.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Feature
The Mi 6 is also rumored to sport a 19-megapixel Sony IMX400 sensor on the rear and an 8-megapixel front facing a camera. The handset is said to pack a 3200mAh battery and run MIUI 8 based Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Reports have also suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in two RAM options- 4GB/6GB RAM and three storage options- 32GB/64GB and 128GB.
Besides the specifications, prices of each variant of the device have been leaked as well. Leaks suggest that 4GB RAM with 32GB internal storage variant will be available at 1999 Yuan (Rs 18,992), while 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage will be priced at 2299 Yuan (Rs 21,831) and lastly, the 6GB RAM with 128GB variant will cost around 2699 Yuan (Rs 25,629).
